Insurance and payment
Is acupuncture covered by OHIP?
No. Chinese medicine and acupuncture are not covered by OHIP, but many extended health plans do cover our services. Check your plan to confirm you are covered and for how much.
Do you issue insurance receipts?
Yes. Receipts are issued by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP). Check with your plan which of these designations it covers.
Do you bill my insurance directly?
No. You pay at your appointment and we give you a receipt to submit to your extended health plan.
How can I pay?
By cash, debit, credit card and e-transfer.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule; otherwise a $90 fee may be charged.
What if I arrive late?
Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as a missed appointment, and a $90 fee is charged.
Are herbs included in the fee?
Herbal formulas are not included in consultation or treatment fees. Herbs generally cost $5–8 a day, depending on the formula.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on how acute or chronic the condition is, your constitution, age and the condition itself. Some people need one treatment, but most need a course. Plan on 5–10 treatments to see progress.
