Privacy Policy

Traditional Healing Centre is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in Keswick, Ontario. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your personal health information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

As a regulated health professional, Jason Tarter is a health information custodian under Ontario’sPersonal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA). Personal information that is not health information is handled in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act(PIPEDA).

What we collect

• When you book online: your name, contact details, the service and time you choose, and anything you type into the booking form.
• When you use the contact form: your name, email, phone number and your message.
• As a patient: your health history, the information on your new patient forms, your assessments and treatment records, and payment and receipt details.
• When you visit this website: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this website.

How we use it

• To book, confirm, remind you of and manage your appointments.
• To answer your questions.
• To assess and treat you, and to keep the clinical records the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario requires.
• To take payment and issue receipts for your extended health plan.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use your health information for marketing.

Who we share it with

We share your information only when it is needed to provide our services, when you ask us to, or when the law requires it:

• Online booking is provided by GoHighLevel, a third-party scheduling service. Information you enter when booking is stored by that service to manage your appointments. It may be stored or processed outside Canada.
• The contact form is provided by PiggyButler, a third-party customer support service. Messages you send through it are stored by that service so we can read and answer them by email. They may be stored or processed outside Canada.
• Website hosting is provided by Hostinger.
• The map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps. When it loads, Google receives standard technical information from your browser, such as your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy.
• Your extended health plan receives information only through the receipts you choose to submit.
• Other health providers receive your information only with your consent, or as PHIPA permits.
• Regulators and authorities may receive information where the law requires it, for example the College during an inspection.

How we protect it

We keep your health records secure and limit access to people who need it to provide your care. Regular email is not a secure way to send health information, so please bring your completed forms to your visit rather than emailing them.

How long we keep it

We keep clinical records for as long as the College’s record-keeping standard requires, and then dispose of them securely.

Your rights

• You can ask to see or get a copy of your records.
• You can ask us to correct information you believe is wrong.
• You can withdraw your consent to some uses of your information, subject to legal and regulatory limits.
